Google is now beta testing it’s newly acquired communications platform GrandCentral.
Based in Freemont, California, GrandCentral is a next generation personal communications company, that provides an innovative web-based voice communications platform that helps you manage all your phones and phone numbers through one single interface.
You get a single phone number that forwards to all of your phones, giving you one number for life.
And… they’re doing it all for Free!
Google acquired GrandCentral because, according to Google:
“it’s communications services fit into Google’s mission to organize the world’s information and to provide services and features that enhance the collaborative exchange of information between our users”
One of the many things you can do with this free service is to screen callers.
Whether you recieve your call on a home, work or mobile phone, GrandCentral will tell you who’s calling before you accept the call. If the number of the phone calling you is already in your GrandCentral address book, they will let you know the name you have for that contact. If it is a new phone, Grand Central can ask the person for thier name the first time they call (after that, GrandCentral remembers).
You can use screening to
* Know who is calling before accepting
* Avoid talking to people you aren’t in the mood for
* Have some fun: Stop telemarketers in their tracks by never picking up, and then blocking their number so they don’t call again.

GrandCentral’s innovative WebCall button allows people to call you from your website or blog while you keep your phone number private!
Simply add a WebCall button to your website or blog. Your number stays private and you can use the normal GrandCentral screening, blocking, forwarding and other features that put you in control. The WebCall button takes care of connecting the call after getting the callers number.
You can choose from different styles and in the near future, you will be able to create your own personalized buttons.
You can use a web call button to
* Provide a way for potential customers to contact your business
* Control who calls you and block annoying peopls
* Meet new people without giving out your number
* Forward calls to yur WebCall button for constant updates on what you are doing.
For example – Set phone forwarding on your WebCall button to go to voicemail (so your phone isn’t always ringing) and then update your WebCall voicemail gretting as often as you like. Callers will hear the latest message you have when they call and can even leave messages for you.
