How to Install Multiple Wordpress Blogs On a Single Domain


I’ve been getting many requests from people wanting to know how to install multiple WordPress blogs on just one domain, so I decided to create this video. It’s a simple walk through of the steps you need to take if this is something you’d like to do.

There are many different reasons why a person may want to create multiple blogs on one domain and there is no way I could possibly cover them all. However, the exact method to the multiple WordPress install, seems to be a topic of great interest, so we’re going to cover the process in the following video.

A while back, Darren Rowse of Problogger, made a good point on the wisdom of diversifying your interests in blogging.

“Diversification of Income Sources – I’ve posted many times here at ProBlogger about the wisdom of diversifying your interests in blogging and the idea of multiple blogs is central in my own approach to this. While you do need to be careful of spreading yourself too thinly (more on this below) multiple blogs has been very beneficial for me and have been one of the main reasons for my own growth of income over the past three years. My own experience is that a blog’s traffic growth usually starts fairly slowly, then goes through a growth spurt before reaching a plateau where it becomes more difficult to add new readers in great numbers. At this point starting a second blog is often one good way to increase overall traffic.”

Now don’t get me wrong, article marketing is cool, except for the fact that the article directory gets to keep all the ad revenue and they are getting more particular about what articles they accept.

Social media is fun, but it has its limits.

It’s more about socializing and less about doing business.

Sure, you can make connections there, but at the end of the day the lion’s share of your profits are more than likely not coming from social media. That tells me that social media sites are not the most important places on the web.

So what is?

Your own blog.

In my opinion, there’s nothing like having your own blog, especially if you use WordPress. WordPress makes blogging much easier and a lot more effective.

Your blog is your castle.

YOU get to decide which content to put on it and don’t have to wait a week for someone else to approve it.

YOU get to keep all of your ad revenue. If you use Google Adsense, however, chances are it’s more like Google Adcents. And please don’t get me started on the Google slaps.

This is why it’s more effective to promote affiliate products on your own blog rather than having to rely on Adsense. Affiliate commissions have much higher payouts than ad clicks.

One thing you can do to promote affiliate products on your blog, is to have a "blog sponsor" section in your sidebar. You can place ads here (preferably with eye-catching graphics rather than just text) that link to select affiliate products and your own products if you have any.

Another option is to occasionally write a blog post or two that promote affiliate products. The posts will contain solid content in addition to your sales pitch. You should write the post as if you were talking to a friend so that it doesn’t come across as too sales-y. And you should never forget to have an opt-in form on your blog so that the email addresses of your blog readers can be collected for future correspondence.

Only on occasion should you promote affiliate products through email to your list.

I say on occasion because best marketing practices dictate that most of the emails you send to your list, should contain helpful, informative and engaging content. You can use your blog posts as content but you should also use original content in your emails too.

In other words, mix it up.
