Internet Marketing News, Tips and Tricks Around the Web Vol. 5

I apologize for the long delay between posts but I’ve been kind of busy building a new website.

It’s coming soon.

In the meantime, there’s a couple of things I’ve found that may be of interest to you.

Lynn TerryI found Lynn Terry’s latest ClickNewz! post to be very helpful, informative and well written.

Here, Lynn takes an inside look at the difference between Keyword Research and Market Research. There is a definite difference between the two that many people are not even aware of.

Lynn explains this and more in her latest post.

“I could start out by giving you specific internet marketing strategies, and I’ll share a few of those with you too.

But the key is actually in how you approach the market. It’s not complicated, but it is unique to each market and to each type of niche affiliate site. I’ll share some methods that I use to create a winning marketing plan for any site…”

Lynn’s teachings are highly recommended reading. Continue reading Affiliate Marketing Tips: Traffic & Sales

Mary Kay Miller is an Internet marketing coach specializing in SEO and Web 2.0 Internet marketing solutions. She has created and managed her own Internet business since 2006.

Mary K Miller, Orthopreneur.comI was impressed with many of the SEO tips, and practices Mary presents on her blog and in her most recent entry: “SEO Blog Posts – Seven Tips to Engage Readers and Search Engines”.

In this post, you can actually see that she is using some of the practices she explains in her extensive SEO teachings.

Notice for example that all the clickable links (I would assume these are also keywords) in this particular blog post, all point to actual informative information from paces like Wikipedia.

This is an excellent optimization strategy that works well for both the search engine spiders and the person reading the post.

Mary expands on this even more in her first SEO tip.

To start, the first thing to consider when you are writing a blog post is how you are going to please both the search engine spiders as well as your human visitors. It isn’t all about SEO and keywords no matter what you may have heard or read.  Google for example is much more interested in you making your articles readable and interesting.

Your click through rate (CTR) is one of the criteria it looks at.

If readers are immediately clicking out of your blog or don’t return because the content is considered boring or unreadable, it will hurt your ranking.  Your goal is to create fun and interesting blog posts to please both the search engines and readers.”  - Continue reading SEO Blog Posts – Seven Tips to Engage Readers and Search Engines

Internet Marketing News, Tips and Tricks Around the Web Vol. 4

Today I ran into a couple of very interesting posts on the state of the not so new social media phenomenon and a few things we internet marketers can do to make working with it, a little more enjoyable and profitable. I’ve also included a link to an excellent interview with BobTheTeacher and Super Affiliate Marketer Lynn Terry.

First, let’s get into the concept of why you should…

Take a different approach to social media and customer engagement.

Sam Cece CEO of StrongMail Systems Sam Cece, CEO of StrongMail Systems, shared an interesting observation today on social media and how marketing online is about more than just jumping on the social media bandwagon.

"A decade ago, the term social media didn’t mean much to consumers, let alone marketers and corporate executives.

Today, none of us can get away from the term – it’s everywhere. Companies are jumping on the social bandwagon, erecting fan pages on Facebook, developing corporate Twitter accounts, creating groups on LinkedIn and producing channels on YouTube – all in the name of reaching, engaging and influencing customers on a more personal level.

While the game has certainly changed, it feels as if the social media pendulum has swung a bit too far in one direction. But by taking a closer look, it becomes clear that the more things change, the more they stay the same." Continue reading I’m not Knocking Facebook or Twitter, but…

Take it easy…

Terry StarbuckerTerry Starbucker a blogger who believes in spreading “realistic optimism” through a philosophy he calls "Half-Fullism", has been in the business world for over 27 years in various leadership positions, most recently as a senior operations executive for a service business based in the Rocky Mountains west.

Terry recently took a more lighthearted, humorous look at social media. Something we should all be doing more of on a regular basis.

One of the things Terry mentions in his post is this: "Finally,  there’s capitulation – the collective resignation that what once was fresh, new, and different is now stale, rote, and commonplace.

While our friend Social Media has not quite approached the capitulation stage yet, I fear it is getting closer and closer to it.

There is an antidote, however.

It’s the collective ability of the users to NOT take it so seriously, and keep the fun and social side of it alive and kicking."

To aid in this endeavor, he has taken the liberty of concocting 20 easy ways to help in his “SMOF” campaign (aka Social Media Ought to be Fun).

Personally, I thought these tips were very amusing to say the least and warranted an inclusion in this post. Continue reading 20 Easy Ways to Take Social Media a Little Less Seriously
